After a homeless arsonist fueled the Palisades fire on May 14, 2021, charring over 1158 acres of dry brush and threatening homes, our beloved Topanga State Park closed: Hot spots, preserving archeological sites, and rebuilding burned trails were reasons given.
So after three weeks, I just spoke to Ranger Readyhoff of the California State Parks Angeles division, who told me that the park will reopen tomorrow, June 5, 2021.
Without doubt, John Muir, conservationist and father of our national park system, is once again remembered. Our open nature is the greatest gift!
