Snaking through the Santa Monica Mountains on the Getty Museum tram, I met Victor (not his real name) from China. He was touring the United States, and telling me about his impressions, which included our clean blue skies!

Victor believes the air quality in our western United States must be worse than our eastern seaboard due to China's air pollution blowing over the Pacific Ocean -- much of their soot coming from construction sites on every Chinese corner! It's not just about cars, commuters, and coal. Is the western USA more polluted than our eastern seaboard? Factor in Fukishima and maybe... yes.
