True blue.
Sure, you can buy fancy bells and whistles, and gadgets to blow your mind trying to figure 'em out, or like a reliable friend, choose simple substance.
That is how I experienced the 2012 Nissan Juke: The Bold Urban Sport Cross. Nissan's 5-door compact crossover, which gets about 27 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, is simply a car of substance!
And it's pretty, too. In a creative I'm different than you sort of way.
Motivated by a family visit, I landed in Oakland's airport--mountains shrouded by smog in contrast to a post-rain blue sky Los Angeles day--and picked up the Nissan Juke at Park n Fly.
The Nissan Juke, with its elegant simplicity, started and maneuvered with reliable ease. Everything was where I thought it'd be, reminding me of an old fashioned car with modern good looks and technology, too.
Comfort
At first, I found the seats comfortable and easily adjusted. Uncle Franklin thought so too. I picked him up in Mill Valley and drove to Tennessee Valley for a hike.
Here I am, picking Uncle Franklin up in Milll Valley.
He circled the car like an inspector.
When he finished, he said,
"Looks very very good."
And with that, I popped the trunk.
That's my stuff.
Seats fold down, so should I buy a small kayak, which is on my mind, or if I ever get back into traveling with multiple shoes, this car may be the new ticket.
Currently, in Los Angeles, my trunk holds hiking boots, cycling and dancing shoes, and sensible sandals. Hiking poles. A tripod. Yoga mat. Weight-lifting gloves. Come to think of it, you never know when you might need strappy high heels, too. Better add. I think the Nissan Juke can handle even more but back to my story.
At the end of our Tennessee Valley hike, I took what's now my favorite Uncle Franklin photo. Looking good for 75 years! All that clean air. Mostly clean air. When neighbors aren't blowing too much smoke.
Regarding comfort, after driving many more hours that included a round-trip drive to Palo Alto, I missed the lumbar back and neck support of my Lexus.
