Boston offers the best of nature, sustainable city living, and fine art. But its best known for history. Alive within its streets and architecture, Boston is American history where heros like John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Paul Revere, helped win our freedoms and a long litany of firsts.

Boston Harbor Cruises & The Bulldog

Would you pay $5000 for this face?

I snapped the bulldog on my Boston Harbor Cruise, a quick ferry from Provincetown to Boston for $79 round-trip, a great deal for Cape Cod convenience and lowering your carbon emissions, which I was wont to do when this lady walked up to me and said,

"Guess what?" The woman broke into a wide smile and raised her forehead, as if to share a lightbulb moment. "My neice gets $5000 for a dog's photo."

Art's Dune Tour, Cape Cod

Long before I had the pleasure of coming to clean air Cape Cod, I heard about its literary and artistic legends.

Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Mary Oliver lives in Provincetown (P-Town). Pen/Faulkner & Pulitzer Prize winner, Michael Cunningham of "The Hours" frequents P-Town. And Nobel Prize winning playwright Eugene O'Neill lived and wrote plays here.

And on Art's Dune Tour, we experienced Cape Cod sand dunes like a soft blanket against blue skies where artists' "Dune Shacks" including Norman Mailer's situated in my photo, provided roots for inspiration. It's the place where Mailer wrote Tough Guys Don't Dance.

Inspired and ready to give back, Mailer founded literary retreats and trusts for writers in the area, for which, come to think of it, would work well for me.

Venture Athletics Kayak Shop, Provincetown, Cape Cod

Carlos and Elizabeth fell in love, got married and opened the world of kayaking to  Provincetown visitors with Venture Athletics Kayak Shop.

Since I love kayaking,  Cape Cod sunset light, and learning about the natural world, I chose the Naturalist 2-Hour Kayaking Tour 6-8 pm.

Once home to thousands of whales, I learned from my naturalist guide (currently at Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies) that Provincetown was so crowded with whales back in the day that during springtime it was hard for boats to maneuver through them.

Provincetown is noted to be the first whaling village in the world to outlaw whale killings and instead promote whale conservation and tours.

I also learned the ocean's phytoplankton are one cell plants on the surface of the ocean responsible for half the world's oxygen.
