American Masters John Muir in the New World premiers Monday April 18, 2011 from 9-10:30 on PBS in honor of Earth Day (4/22) and John Muir Day (4/21).
I was lucky to watch an advance of show, and loved it!
Emmy-winning Director Cahterine Tatge reenacted Muir's life-changing journeys, filming throughout the majestic landscapes he visited:
Wisconsin, Yosemite, the Sierra Nevada, Alhambra Valley of California and glaciers of Alaska.
The film John Muir in the New World is a timely reminder of America's unique and threatened eco-systems, and the positive difference one person can make.
It's largely because of John Muir that we have national parks, like Muir Woods and Yosemite, two of my favorite American parks.
John Muir is considered the father of the environmental movement, and founder of the Sierra Club.
Photos I took at Muir Woods and Yosemite. The Yosemite photos I shot during an Ansel Adams photo workshop.
If you love nature, please make a note on your calendar to check out your local PBS listing for April 18th.
