Bruce Coulombe of Wings Over Kauai blew me away with his aerial tour of Hawaii's garden isle, Kauai.
The photo opportunities were unreal.
Look at this photo!
The colors, textures, composition--you can only get flying in the air.
Thank you Bruce for one of my best aerial photo opportunities, ever.
We soared over waterfalls, lush lime green forests, and volcanic mountains as Bruce narrated the journey, pointing out Hollywood TV & Film locations, including "The plane! The plane!" Fantasy Island, Jurassic Park and native-Hawaiian Bette Midler's land purchased to ensure preservation.
Bruce flew a new Gippsland G8 Airvan, which I was told is far less polluting
than the popular helicopter rides.
I felt safe knowing Bruce had decades of flight experience, including flying 14 years on Kauai with a perfect safety record.
Regarding a more sustainable flight, according to his wife Ellen,
"Our plane is in competition with the helicopters which dominate air touring here. Helicopters are everywhere, and they are loud and annoying. Our planes are quieter, and we use about 13 gallons of fuel to carry 6 passengers for one hour, whereas the helicopters burn about 50 gallons of fuel to carry the same number of passengers. That’s why we consider ourselves very eco-friendly for Hawaii!"
I really appreciate Bruce's professionalism and giving me the opportunity to take beautiful photographs.
Wings Over Kauai has been a highlight of my Hawaii journey.
When you come to Kauai, naturally, I recommend putting Wings Over Kauai on your must do list.
