When I heard Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, initially I was surprised yet in another beat it made total sense. Obama unified the world like no one else.
As a world traveler with world traveler friends, we've been better accepted by people on the street, in coffee shops, and standing in line at train stations--around the world--than when Bush was in office and we were criticized for being American.
"How could you vote for Bush?"
"I didn't"
"You let others vote him in."
What?
"Where are you from?"
"Los Angeles."
"Go home. We don't like Americans."
Real conversations where I was targeted based on my nationality.
I'll speak for myself, I experienced more prejudice when Bush was in office.
People like Obama a lot; he is a sign of hope for us all. Obama unifies and seeks to understand others rather than divide.
