Dear Donna,
I truly enjoyed your articles on cleaner air. I have been in search of cleaner air in Canada for several years. Toronto, where I live, may be be one of the dirtiest cities in Canada, for air quality. I have been to Victoria many times and every time I go there, I can breathe a lot easier. Please confirm if you see it the same way and that is not only my imagination.
Best regards,
Jasar
Dear Jasar,
Small charming Victoria has world's cleaner air than big city Toronto.
Toronto has some of the dirtiest air in Canada. Victoria some of the cleanest.
In fact, I believe Victoria is not only one of the cleanest cities in Canada but in North America, though I'm not well versed enough on the eastern seaboard to be definitive. I am told St. John's in Newfoundland has very clean air, too. (Atlantic seaboard).
Victoria has low population to land mass, as does all of British Columbia. Victoria has very little industry and transportation as cities go. It has winds blowing potential gunk out from passing ships and Vancouver.
Victoria also is considered the bicycling capital of North America. I'm always amazed and thrilled at seeing so many bicyclists when I'm there. All ages!
Your lungs feeling better when in Victoria is right on! You can trust that your body knows.
We all must start trusting our bodies more and listening to what feels good and bad.
I also felt amazingly alive in Jasper... clean mountain air.
Best wishes,
Donna
