Here are a few of my favorite attractions.
Butchart Gardens is located in a community called Brentwood Bay, which, it turns out, is host to all sorts of great adventures and beauty like Butterfly Gardens and Todd Inlet.
But first...
In the summer on Saturday nights the famous Butchart Gardens comes alive with fireworks and live music.
I went for the evening program, bringing a big blanket, friends, and food for the sky's display around 5 p.m. Fireworks start at 10 p.m. and people leave their blankets to reserve early. No one touches their stuff. This isn't L.A.
I didn't know what to expect at Butterfly Gardens and was pleasantly surprised to see the variety of butterflies flying uncaged in a tropical environment that included pink flamingos!
Todd Inlet is next to Butchart and offers boating and hiking trails, loads of wild flowers.
