I highly recommend the new book, Smogtown: The Lung-Burning History of Pollution in Los Angeles.
I think it should be required reading for CARB and SCAQMD officials, Congress, city officials, and air pollution specialists, especially during this time of stimulus plans.
Read what's worked and not worked in the past; which people and companies helped and hindered the clean-up and break-down of transportation technologies and city planning.
I just got Smogtown yesterday, and have been reading like a Mexican jumping bean, beginning mid-section in chapter Roadtrap and jumping to The People's Revolt and back to the beginning, Paradise Obscured.
See you at the end of the book.
