I just made that up--The Clean Air Diet--but that's the essence of my diet and it's working. I dropped 4 pounds by cutting out all animal products and processed food, though I still put nonfat milk in my morning coffee. When I shop locally grown produce, I believe I'm Ms. Clean Air Integrity. Okay, I take that back, I cooked in Los Angeles. Rated number one in America for air pollution (hence my passion).
I'm getting creative with my cooking.
Last night, I cooked beets in Brita filtered water. The left-over water looked beautiful, rich, and burgundy, so I made it the base of my soup. Into a crock pot, I added a package of black beans, a cup of basmati brown rice, 2 onions, several carrots, many spices including tumeric, ginger, coriander, fresh rosemary and pepper, and left to go dancing.
At dance, a few friends noticed I lost weight and said flattering things, which felt great especially since 2 weeks ago, another friend told me I should color my hair. I didn't like hearing that. I have a few gray strands that pop up but color? So far, I'm still au natural. And thinner. The Clean Air Diet way.
Now I have enough soup for weeks and just froze more than half of above, which brings me to another benefit of my diet. It's inexpensive, too.
And did I mention the anti-oxidant properties in the spices? Most important added "defense" when living in smog-city.
