More times than not I come away from green festivals, green events, and green expos with a sigh for greenwashing; a feminine agh! for former white men in ties now in fashionable hemp who moved from America's boardrooms to the heads of the environmental "class" when green became gold; and then an occasional, right on, baby! for the good-hearted, hard-working activists (like me) turned business entrepreneurs who dot the ever increasing green showroom floors.
That said, I loved Green Expo today at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Go!
I met so many people innovating traditionally toxic products into sustainable alternative products--packaging and all--that I hardly had time to eat, which means I'm very hungry right now. And if you go to the Convention Center tomorrow be forewarned that the food (not available this year in Green Expo showroom) was not too good.
Keeping to my vegan diet, there was only watered down lentil soup and saltine crackers. So what I have to say is, I've got to eat now and will continue this post in a little while or tomorrow.
Before I sign off I highly recommend the documentary Fuel, which won an award at Sundance Film Festival this year.
The film makes a passionate common-sense plea to go green, go biodiesel, and get off fossil fuels.
Now.
The film's maker and supporters were there today. Most inspiring.
