I'm totally in the holiday spirit, offering to shop for friends who don't want to shop, which brought me smack back into Talbot's. I love that store. So I bought several shirts, velvet pants and jacket, and then I walked on the beach with my old friend Jerry.
Jerry is the most eclectic guy on earth, and hence creative, which makes him a gem as a walking partner. We used to walk and talk at The Sports Club L.A., which, besides being akin to athletic gym gold as in $$$, it is pretentious, which is one reason we are not there.
Today, Jerry and I found ourselves talking about outrageous things people do for real estate. Like a man staying with a woman he's not in love with. Like a son black-mailing his mother for her real-estate and if she doesn't acquiesce, no more grandchildren. And we hear of all those foreclosures!
What happened to values and being good, respecting each other, and respecting living within limits?
Back in the day.
The day when Indians roamed America with free abandon, a bow and arrow for food, and a kind heart that revered nature, back then Native American Indians used what they needed and lent the rest. The term Indian-giver came when the white men came to America and offered the Native Indians something like $25 for Manhattan. The Indians, with a kinder culture and gentler heart, said, "No problem." But later when the Natives needed the land back and asked for it, which was part of their "giving" culture, the Americans said, Screw you and shot their guns, instead. The war for America and real estate was on.
As I was saying, I holiday shopped today, and walked and talked about things people do for real estate--lie, steal, and murder. Tra-la-la. Maybe we should worry less about owning a home, and living in a home, and think more about how we can be kind to each other.
Decency.
Integrity.
Compassion.
Merry Christmas. Happy Chanukah.
May your heart and thoughts be aligned in the right place.
For all.
Myself, I decided to adopt a grandma. I put out the word. And learned of 2 holocaust survivors who could use some help.
