I chase clean air.
In July 2006, after repeatedly observing black soot build on my windowsill, I chose to stop accepting poor Los Angeles air quality, and start exploring clean air destinations, products and advocacy work, instead.
My journey started on a mountaintop veiled by city smog when winds whispered, "Let's go! Out of Los Angeles and into the world, chasing clean air, beauty, and a sustainable life!"
At first, I fumbled onto the clean air road. Tripped over climate change. Wrestled fear and fought back big black flies.
It turned out that the cleanest air occurred in The Bush where bored residents routinely came up with crazy ideas that involved guests signing liability forms.
In case of loss of life.
Or limb.
Big city skills never came in handy. Nor make-up.
Or spiked-heels.
Chasing Clean Air tells my story: From fear to exhilaration and clean air.
To date, I've written over 1,200 articles highlighting:
- Clean Air Getaways
- Adventures
- Smog & Your Health
- Solutions to Air Pollution
- Starting Over: From Perfume to Bug Spray. High Heels To Hiking Boots.
According to the American Lung Association, over 186.1 million Americans breath toxic air. Asthma, allergies, sinusitus, headaches, cardiovascular disease and cancer sufferers are on the rise. So build your defenses. Eat your veggies. Exercise to stay strong and read Chasing Clean Air to learn where people breathe easier.
Reporting from the clean and dirty air road, I'm the "canary in the coal mine" telling the truth about air quality as I breathe it. I interview locals & experts about natural and man-made pollution, and share my findings on Chasing Clean Air.
Armed with information, we're better prepared to plan healthier vacations and next moves. Otherwise marketers and even NGOs may lead us astray, even toward environmental pollution.
At times, my findings may be incomplete when winds blow, water flows, and polluters move next door, but I identify current pollution challenges and explore solutions.
Join tens of thousands of clean air seekers for suggestions on places to go, things to do, and surprise toxic hot-spots and hidden gems found along the clean air road--that mostly only locals know.
If you've ever said, "Enough smog. Enough traffic. Give me clean air!" check in with the Chasing Clean Air community, and turn your adventure on!
In 2012, I'll continue to climb, glide, & jump into new adventures!
Let's go!
Live a great adventure and breathe easy!
