Yesterday my girlfriend Arna and I drove onto the Anacortes ferry, Orcas-Island bound because I fell in love with the San Juan Islands' clean air.
I picked up the Honda Insight, a 2010 "clean air" hybrid, at Seatac airport, in part, to make up for my polluting flight, though Southwest uses new more efficient planes, and, in part, because I'd never driven this hybrid.
I found the 5-door hybrid Honda Insight to be a sporty compact car that hugged the road well. Gas mileage was great. 40 city/43 hwy/41 combined mpg.
A small car, it felt both light and roomy. According to Honda's engineers, the battery pack was improved from the previous model, resulting in cost savings and reduced weight. Its location allows for greater cabin space.
The new Honda Insight was designed to be a hybrid with high fuel economy, an accessible price, and superior value.
Arna happens to own a Prius, and here was her reaction to the Honda Insight:
"Comfortable head, neck and back support, everything at my fingertips, it really feels like a combination between the Honda Civic Hybrid and the Prius but very sporty. It has Honda Civic navigation and a similar body to the Prius."
Arna loved the 2010 Honda Insight and said she'd consider buying this hybrid next time. I truly enjoyed driving it, too. And I felt safe.
The Hybrid's Heart includes the latest Integrated Motor Assist IMA®original Insight).
The Insight features a highly efficient, 1.3-liter, 8-valve, i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine and DC-brushless electric motor, and it's equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Now the Honda sits next to the lovely house we're renting with rooms with a view!!
A resident peacock struts around the premises, keeping an eye for food and photographers.
Honda Insight was loaned for review.
