Do not use Hotwire.com. I could not have had a more disappointing experience!
Unbelievably bad. I was lied to, and in my opinion Hotwire stole my money. I booked a room, asking for a hotel at Seatac (Seattle) adjacent to the airport where I plan to fly tomorrow. I was told I'd be in a fine hotel in the Seatac area, and I followed directions to the address they gave me, and ended up in an industrial area that frankly scares me and is nowhere near Seatac or Seattle though I was told by Luis, "my hotel is minutes away from the airport." He just forgot to add 20 minutes in a different town called Kent. Here look at this greater Seattle area map, Kent is not Seatac. I've stayed in Seatac before.
This isn't it, and no one that works here pretends otherwise. There's a loud booming noise coming from floor below right now. I'm so tired. Tired from being lied to. And tired having to be alone in an area that not only isn't Seatac but isn't Seattle. The guy who showed me to my room admitted there have been thefts on the premises. It's a scary place. Not Seattle. Not Seatac. Not what I requested. I was tired from a long day that started in Victoria, taking ferry to Port Angeles, going to Hurricane Ridge (beautiful and I recommend when you go to Olympic Peninsula) and then a loonngg drive to this scary neighborhood that was not what I requested. When I called Hotwire.com to ask for a different hotel and I told them, I mean, I told LeAnne the customer service representative, that she wouldn't want her mom, daughter, or sister to be in this neighborhood, I was told,
"There are a lot of dangerous areas in the world, just listen to the news."
Do not use Hotwire.com
No one cares about my safety at hotwire.com. No one seems to care about their own credibility, either.
But I do.
The woman at hotel desk downstairs where I unfortunately am now (I couldn't start looking for an available room this late and my room is already paid for and hotwire.com for now will not refund the money they stole in misrepresentation though LeAnne said they'd look into it) anyway, the gal downstairs at hotel in area that I did not request said she gets complaints all the time about Hotwire.com, Priceline.com, and Hotels.com misrepresenting what they sell. Less so, she said, Expedia and Travelocity.
I can not believe how I was lied to by hotwire.com and how poorly treated I was once they knew I was in a dangerous feeling area, not the area I'd requested. Don't let it happen to you or a loved one. Avoid at any cost using Hotwire.com God only knows where hotwire.com will put you with no consideration for the city you've actually requested. Eventually, I was told they'd listen to my phone conversations with Luis who initially booked me and who I could hardly understand, and decide from recording if they'll refund my money. I wonder if the people listening to conversation #1 will actually listen and #2 speak English well enough to understand what was said. Hotwire.com hotwired my money and that's enough for them. I hope Hotwire gives me a full refund and an apology for suffering in bad neighborhood that was not what I requested. They caused so much unnecessary stress. I'd set up a tent anywhere before using hotwire.com again. I'm disgusted and can't wait to get away from here. Now the room is rumbling and I've called downstairs to ask why. Sometimes the trucks pass by, I'm told. It's an industrial area. I hate hotwire.com And now I hear the a train choo-chooing with what sounds like many cabooses and sirens.
For anyone unfamiliar with this blog, since I began 930 articles ago, I've only criticized two other company for extreme bad business practices and that was E-Trade and Pepsico. I have no idea if E-Trade has new management and has come clean but when I used them years back, in my opinion, they did business like crooks. Pepsico has money selling sugar water, yet in Los Angeles I've observed their outdated diesel trucks spewing dark clouds of fine particulate matter into the air we breathe.
I've probably mentioned over a hundred companies through these pages, and made glowing remarks. Most companies I believe do try to do right by the customer and provide good service, in many, cases, excellent.
Photos above I took from front of hotel.
