Years ago, my then boyfriend and I had a motor-boat we kept on the Chesapeake Bay. I loved boating! Still do.
At the same time, many boats pollute the water and air.
So today when I heard the Tampa Boat Show Sept. 11-13, 2009 will have a green zone to highlight cleaner boats and fuels hitting the market now, I thought I'd share here. (Photo I took a few weeks ago off San Juan Island.)
- Endeavour Green Electric Hybrid Boat –The Endeavour Electric Hybrid is clean, quiet and features efficient electric propulsion with low maintenance, low depreciation, and discounts on boat insurance premiums.
- Fuel Medics Fuel Additive Solution – A fuel solution featuring an additive with the omission of alcohols and metals that could harm boat engines. The additive also reduces emissions to avoid engine smoking, reduces the usage of fuel for cost effectiveness and cleans the engine from the inside.
- JSI Solar Panel and Wind Generator – These newly produced solar panels are thin, flexible, low-cost solar powered products, featuring solar cell technology. The Superwind 350 wind generator works autonomously and automatically even under extreme weather conditions. The electric power generated by Superwind charges batteries and can be used directly for 12V- or 24V-appliances.
- Lumberock Premium Decking – Among the most environmentally-friendly decking material on the market, this product uses up to 75 percent recycled material during the manufacturing, in which 50 percent of the recycled product is pulled directly from landfills.
- Peterson Marine Spectra Solar Cube – The Spectra Solar Cube can purify water from almost any source. Powered from integrated solar-celled panels and a wind powered generator, the cube provides both water and electricity without the need for continuous fueling.
- Sealand Environmental Hydrogen Kit – Manufacturer of the HydroMarine™ and HydroMate,™ these on-demand hydrogen generator systems are used with gasoline or diesel engines and provide up to 35 percent fuel economy, increasing engine horsepower and decreasing exhaust emissions.
- Thetford Cleaning Products – Thetford Corporation’s Chemical Engineering Department worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2008 to reformulate its cleaning products, making them among the first in the industry to gain official DfE (Design for Environment) status. All of Thetford’s products are eco-friendly, biodegradable formulas and housed in 100 percent recycled bottles.
