Capture the wind!
A call went out for the best ideas to fix our energy addiction, and a French team of designers--one engineer and two architects--won the Metropolis Next Generation Design Prize challenge for...
"Wind-it"
Wind-it is a design to place wind turbines inside existing high-voltage electricity pylons.
Now I have no idea what a pylon is, but working with existing infrastructure sounds brilliant to me, and worth mentioning to you in case you too get an idea to fix our energy addiction too, by making something old new again that can produce high energy.
The winners--Julien Choppin, Nicola Delon and Raphaël Ménardwere--were honored by the architecture and design community at an
awards ceremony last night at the Herman Miller showroom in New York. In addition to recognition, the French team shared a $10,000 award.
