Mayor Villaraigosa picked S. David Freeman to be deputy mayor of environment in order to implement the mayor's environmental agenda.
David Freeman was the GM at LADWP (and several major power companies throughout America) and he is a major proponent for renewable energy. He wrote the book, Winning Our Energy Independence: An Insider Shows You How. As a fan and friend, I'm excited about his appointment, which, knowing what goes on behind the scenes, I think he already was doing the duties.
Most recently, it was Dave's idea to introduce the first all-electric big rigs to the Port of Los Angeles. You can read about this huge step and accomplishment for clean air, here.
