Whenever I travel I love to hike--with or without bug spray. And when traveling alone, naturally, I seek out the friendship of a fellow hiker. Last summer I was on Vancouver Island scouting great nature spots where I could breath clean air. That's when I met hiker Michael, a native who told me he knew the trails. Even when there were none.
