The view of Whistler Mountain from my Delta Whistler Village Suite.
Like the Rocky Mountaineer train, Whistler exists because of dreamers who took action.
Myrtle and Alex Philip opened a fishing camp in 1914, and the Whistler area became the most popular Canadian summer destination west of the Rockies.
In the 1960s two Vancouver businessmen enjoyed the winter Olympics in Squaw Valley and decided and they wanted to groom Whistler to host the winter Olympics.
In 2003 their dream became a reality and Whistler was awarded the honour of co-hosting the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games with Vancouver.
