Butchart Gardens is a national historic site about a twenty minute drive outside of Victoria.
Here take a peek at the Blue Poppy brought originally from the Himalayas by Captain Bailey, and the sunken garden that was once...
The imagination sprouts from many seeds.
And the wife of a cement manufacturer named Mr. Butchart, envisioned a garden in what was once the sunken grounds for limestone and clay excavation.
To think the historic garden began with a sweet pea.
Mrs. Butchart received a gift of sweet peas and a single rose way back. She'd never had a garden but decided to start. And from this benign beginning flowered one of the world's great gardens.
The Butchart Gardens is a fragrant reminder of how powerful taking a single step, and planting one seed, may be.
